HUDSON, Wis. — A group of Hudson parents has hired a lawyer to slow down the district’s efforts to close two elementary schools.
Last month, the Hudson School District Board of Education voted to close Houlton and Willow River , citing financial reasons and declining enrollment.
The district would save nearly $3.4 million and it would stay in the green for three more academic years before it hit a projected budget deficit.
“There’s a lot of questions still out there that haven’t been answered about why this and 'How did you come up with your decision?'” said John Dolan.
Dolan has four kids in the district, two at Houlton, one in middle school, and he hopes his youngest will be able to go to Houlton next year.
