SAUCIER, Miss. (WLOX) - Elementary students at Lyman Elementary School honored 105 veterans on Monday with patriotic songs and a special ceremony.
Each grade level performed selections of patriotic songs, including “You’re a Grand Ole Flag” and “God Bless the USA.”
Navy veteran John Kendrick said the ceremony was meaningful to him.
“This is one of the best ceremonies that I’ve been to honoring veterans,” Kendrick said. “Me being able to get out here amongst this, it’s just heart-warming.”
Sixth-grader Eleannor Miller said singing songs showed how veterans helped gain freedom for the country.
Fifth-grader Gavin Flynn helped lead the ceremony.
“It’s a day to honor people who have served,” Flynn said. “It’s a very important day.”
Principal Erin Cates said students prepared and practice
