TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Thousands gathered in downtown Tucson Tuesday for the 106th annual Veterans Day parade, in honor of those in the military who have served the country.
The theme of this year’s event was 250 years, which celebrates the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
Arizona has one of the largest veteran populations in the country, and more than 75,000 of them live in Pima County.
People of all ages lined the street to watch, from kids cheering on cars and floats as they passed, to members of military families, and many veterans themselves.
One local veteran serves on the parade foundation board. He said he decided to join the military to follow in his dad’s footsteps.
“I enlisted in 1976, a whole four days after my 18th birthday,” said Sgt. Lyle
