Roseville’s Bill Hureaux, a World War II veteran who served in General Patton’s 3rd U.S. Army, is celebrating his 101st birthday surrounded by loved ones and community members. Drafted in 1943 from a Seventh-day Adventist school in Citrus Heights, Hureaux fought across France before being discharged at 21. After the war, he married his wife Carol and built a successful career managing an automotive dealership by age 29 — all without a high school diploma. Known for his can-do attitude and do-it-yourself skills, Hureaux says the key to a good life is staying positive. “Look at things in an up condition… be positive in life,” he shared.
