HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - As lawmakers in Washington, D.C., make progress toward ending the federal government shutdown, flight restrictions are still plaguing travelers nationwide, including at Honolulu’s airport.

On Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Administration expanded its mandated flight cuts, now canceling six percent of all daily flights.

On Wednesday, that number will jump to eight percent.

According to Flight Aware , 18 flights that were scheduled to depart from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport were canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

U.S Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said that even when the shutdown ends, air travel will not immediately go back to full capacity.
