On a cold Veterans Day in Seminole County, Peter Durante, a 101-year-old World War II veteran, sang "God Bless America" at a ceremony in Sanford honoring veterans for their courage and sacrifice.

The blistering wind carried Durante's voice throughout downtown Sanford as he stood proudly at the podium.

After singing, he greeted the crowd, who eagerly expressed their gratitude. "We love you. My grandfather was a World War II veteran. Thank you," said one attendee.

Durante was among several veterans honored during Sanford's ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park.

Sgt. First Class Joseph Cote of the U.S. Army noted, "I checked the forecast and apparently, this was the coldest Veteran's Day in Sanford in almost 30 years. But even on this cold day, the warmth of this crowd, of family and friends
