Once slated to become a Chi-Chi's restaurant, Rojo Mexican Grill has suddenly closed in Maple Grove.

Rojo announced Monday that it has shuttered at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes after a two-year run.

Owner Michael McDermott originally planned convert both of his Rojo locations as he revived Chi-Chi's, the Minnesota-born Mexican restaurant chain co-founded by his father, Marno McDermott.

But since Chi-Chi's recent takeover of Rojo's other location in St. Louis Park, there's been no mention of Maple Grove following suit, as expected.

A spokesperson for Chi-Chi's tells Bring Me The News that the second location still has not been confirmed.
