EVERETT, Wash. — Everett police say a man who had been reported missing last week was found dead in a downtown alley, and investigators are calling his death “suspicious.”

The body of 71-year-old Daniel Lytton was discovered wrapped in a blanket and duct tape in an alley between Grand and Rucker avenues. Detectives say Lytton had been reported missing on Nov. 5 after he was last seen near the 2600 block of Grand Avenue. At the time, he was wearing cargo pants, a dark shirt, and sneakers.

The discovery came just a day after his disappearance, when people walking by the alley spotted the body.

Gazelle Williams, who works nearby, said the incident has shaken the downtown community.

“Not here in downtown Everett…This small community. Yeah, not here,” Williams said.
