Today, we take time to honor the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform. To those of you who are veterans — and who continue to serve our community with the same integrity, dedication, honor, and courage — thank you.
Your service to both our nation and the City of Seattle inspires us all. The leadership, discipline, and sense of duty you bring to this department make us stronger every day.
On a personal note, I had the privilege of serving as a U.S. Marine Reservist back in the 1990s — back when I still had hair and could run three miles in 25 minutes. That experience taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and commitment to something greater than myself — lessons that continue to guide me in our work here at SPD.
We are proud to serve alongside each of you. T
