SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Veterans gathered at the National Cemetery in Sarasota for a mass that provided a moment of peace to remember their sacrifice on Veterans Day.
Army Staff Sergeant Mathew Marsilia said the day holds deep meaning for him.
“I answered the call and I have been grateful for the opportunity ever since,” Marsilia said. “It’s a day to never forget those who took the chance and took the risk to defend something bigger than themselves and it’s a beautiful thing to be able to be part of it and to be able to call myself a veteran it’s the greatest honor I can think of right now.”
