SEQUIM — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula announced Tuesday that its annual auction, themed “We Grow Our Own,” raised a record-breaking $781,500 to support youth programs in the Port Angeles and Sequim communities, and allowing them to keep their membership fees an affordable $30 per year.

More than 400 community members gathered for the event. Guests were treated to an evening of storytelling and performances, and generosity.

A news release says the community’s generosity shone brightly during the fundraising portions of the evening. The Live Auction raised $88,000 and the Dessert Dash raised nearly $28,000. But the night’s most moving moment came during Bids for Kids, which brought in over $500,000 to directly support life-changing programs for young people in Port Angel
