The Gold Coast will continue to host the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards and festival through to 2028.

The awards were previously held in Sydney, before shifting to the Glitter Strip in 2024 for an initial two-year stint that has been extended by another three years.

The festivities, which are a celebration of the best of Australia's film and television industry, will next be held in February.

The awards ceremony has attracted Hollywood stars including Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett and Henry Cavilll.

Next year's five-day festival program will include movie premieres, workshops, meet and greets, industry events and panel discussions covering Australian screen culture.
