BOSTON —
Eight Democrats joined most Republicans to strike a deal to end the government shutdown on Monday in a move that's received backlash and feelings of disappointment across the Democratic party, including here in Massachusetts.
Democratic Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley said her fellow party members in the Senate should've fought harder.
"It's a betrayal," she said. "It's deeply disappointing, it's infuriating."
She warned of sky-high copays and deductibles if tax credits for the Affordable Care Act are not extended.
She also added it's time for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to go.
"I'm very disappointed," Pressley said. "I think we find ourselves in an unprecedented moment, and that unprecedented moment demands new leadership, a different approach."
