New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has defended the presence of foreign students in American universities and called it essential for the nation’s higher education system and economy.

In an interview with Fox News , Trump said that while he does not “want” foreign students per se, he views their enrollment as crucial to keeping the country’s colleges financially stable. You don’t want to eliminate half of the students coming from all over the world and destroy our entire university and college system — I don’t want to do that,” he said. “I believe it’s beneficial to have international students. I want to get along with the world.”
