PAMLICO COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - On Veterans Day, two structure fires broke out in Pamlico and Carteret counties.
Around 7:00 AM off Kershaw Road near Arapahoe, a 65-year-old detached garage went up in flames, burning everything in and outside of the two-story building.
Right beside the building are the owners of the detached garage, Billy and Brenda Parsons.
Billy says that as he was starting his wood stove in the detached garage, he walked back to his home next door, and that’s when someone driving by alerted them of the fire.
As the flames grew, they destroyed the building and took everything inside from the Parsons family.
With the help of firefighters on scene, they’re going through the debris, hoping to salvage any family memories.
