PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Thousands of Arizonans face rising health care costs if Obamacare subsidies expire, after a move to force a vote on extending the subsidies failed on Monday.
Senate Republicans are promising a vote next month, but it’s unclear what will happen in the House if it makes it that far.
Personal impact hits young Arizonans hard
Ashton Young, a 24-year-old with asthma, relies on the Affordable Care Act for health insurance. She has a rare form of asthma that requires expensive treatment.
“I have to get an injection once a month, a biological injection, it’s very, very expensive,” Young said.
At $38 a month, Obamacare made her treatment possible. But next year, her premium is shooting up nearly 1,000 percent. She says it comes at the cost of her future.
