MACON, Ga. — A local gang leader has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for a fatal 2021 shooting, according to a press release from District Attorney Anita Howard’s office .

The press release says Ishaaq Taylor, the founder and leader of a local Crip gang, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the 2021 murder of Shamarian Chatfield, 18.

"Ishaaq Taylor was not just another gang member," said Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard. "He was a dangerous criminal mastermind who built and commanded a sophisticated violent organization. Getting this dangerous leader off our streets makes our entire community safer.”
