Seven people have been charged after police officers were allegedly assaulted and injured during a suspected drug bust.
Police were responding to reports of alleged drug activity at the carpark of a Vinnies op shop on Gipps St, Bega , on the NSW South Coast, about 12.10pm on Tuesday.
Officers tried to speak with a man, who was seen speaking with four people inside a parked car, when he allegedly “became unco-operative and resisted police efforts”, NSW Police said.
The officers arrested the 26-year-old and allege they found 4g of methamphetamine in his possession.
However, the man then armed himself with a hammer and tried to get away — without success.
The four people inside the vehicle are then alleged to have surrounded a male constable and assaulted him.
