MANCHESTER, N.H. —
New Hampshire Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan are facing criticism from Democratic candidates in the state's 1st Congressional District over their efforts to end the federal government shutdown.
Carleigh Beriont of Hampton, a Democratic candidate, compared the senators to strikebreakers.
"Right now, we have senators who feel like they've crossed a picket line," Beriont said. "So, when you bargain, you bargain as a team, and it feels like they're going outside the team to bargain separately. I think what we really need right now is solidarity. If we zoom out and we think about how hard this last year has been for federal workers, we can recognize that, you know, our federal workforce has been treated like they're not essential."
