HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - In a press conference Monday, West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey said that people who need to get food delivered to their homes should call 2-1-1.
But one Huntington couple said after weeks of calling 2-1-1 and the resources they were directed to, they haven’t had food delivered - and what they have is running low.
Estill and Debra Slone, who are both disabled, said they don’t have a car to get them to a food pantry, so they need someone to deliver food to them.
“The stuff about the food stamps, where we don’t get them this month, that put a burden on us,” Estill told WSAZ. “Cause we don’t got no food. And every time we call someone, they don’t respond to us.”
2-1-1 provides resources, like a phone number for the food bank or food pantries.
