PORTLAND, Conn — A deadly crash closed the Arrigoni Bridge Tuesday night, according to the Portland Police Department.

The state Department of Transportation said the closure is between Marlborough Street in Portland and St. Johns Square in Middletown.

The crash happened on the Portland side of the bridge at 8:43 p.m., according to police and fire officials.

The closure is expected to last for an extended period of time while the investigation is underway.
