TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Some people in southern Arizona got a special treat Tuesday night -- a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
As 13 News reported last week, powerful solar storms were expected to bring colorful auroras to several northern U.S. states.
While that is not unusual, the show being visible in Arizona is rare.
In 2023, 13 News talked with David Rankin, a senior survey operations specialist with Catalina Sky Survey , about the phenomenon.
He said to have the best chance to see them, it is a good idea to drive away from the city lights.
Rankin also said the Space Weather Prediction Center website tracks the best times and places to see the lights.
He also recommended using a cell phone camera. The camera lenses will allow people to capture
