The northern lights created a colorful display across Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina on Tuesday night – and there may be an even better view on Wednesday.

13News Now Chief Meteorologist Tim Pandajis said there is a better chance to see the views on Wednesday.

A coronal mass ejection, an eruption of solar material and magnetic fields from the sun’s surface, is hitting the earth Tuesday into Wednesday. Coronal mass ejections usually generate these spectacular displays, allowing them to be seen farther south than usual.

13News Now viewers from Accomack County to Cape Hatteras submitted their photos of the aurora borealis. You can send yours to news@13newsnow.com.
