Food drive on area campuses surpasses goal for campaign

Community Harvest Food Bank’s 11th Annual U Can Crush Hunger food drive received more than 137,000 pounds of food that will be distributed to area families in need, exceeding organizers goal of 125,000 pounds, officials announced Tuesday.

The team representing Purdue University Fort Wayne collected 43,875 pounds of food – more than double the second-place finisher, Indiana Tech, which collected almost 20,000 pounds as of Monday’s final weigh in.

Completing the standings, in order, were the University of Saint Francis, Ivy Tech Community College, Manchester University, Trine University, Indiana University Fort Wayne and Huntington University. Their collections ranged from 17,451 pounds to 8,590 pounds of don
