ALEXANDRIA, Va. — An afternoon of song and celebration filled The Landing , a senior living community in Alexandria, as residents gathered to honor 22 veterans who call the facility home.
Among those recognized were Air Force veteran David Metzer and his wife, Joyce, who both served.
"I was stationed in California. I worked at a medical center there at Travis Air Force Base in California," Metzer said
The couple met while working at the base hospital, he in the emergency room, and she in the laboratory. "She actually served longer and outranked me in the end," Metzer said
