WASHINGTON — Hundreds of Washington Commanders fans are packing their bags — and their patience — as they prepare to travel to Madrid, Spain, for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
With flight delays and cancellations still plaguing major airports, many fans are double-checking itineraries and backup plans to make sure they’ll arrive at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in time for kickoff.
“We’re behind them no matter what — win or lose, we’re always superfans,” said Taunya Martin, a longtime Commanders supporter.
Martin plans to head to the airport hours early just to be safe. “I’ma go four hours early to make sure,” she said. “As long as I get there before Sunday, I’m happy.”
