CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Neighbors, parents, and alums in Collinwood voiced concerns over a possible merger of Collinwood High School and Glenville High School.

“You’re going to drive people into the charter schools and out of the neighborhoods just as you’ve already done on the East Side,” Cleveland City Councilman Michael Polensek, who represents Collinwood, said. “You’re going to destabilize our neighborhoods!”

On Tuesday night, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb along with Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Dr. Warren Morgan explained what they want to accomplish with the “Building Brighter Futures” initiative.

“We need to make more urgent progress to have a competitive urban school district so we can keep families in the city of Cleveland,” Bibb said.
