DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Last year, we met Rhonda Sievers, who had just undergone surgery for oral cancer.
A year later, her recovery continues.
About a year ago, Rhonda Sievers’ friends held a celebration of life, but not because Rhonda had passed, but because she had survived.
“I went to the dentist because I had a bad tooth, but it turned out to be a massive tumor,” said Rhonda at her party in October last year.
That oral cancer required a large part of Rhonda’s jaw to be cut away.
The recovery from that, which has gone on for a year now, has taken a lot of work.
She had to relearn how to eat and speak.
“It’s been very hard, I’ve gained a lot of my weight back, and I’m eating better since I had my neck surgery two months ago,” said Rhonda in her Duluth home recently.
