People around San Antonio honored those who have served with Veterans Day ceremonies throughout the city.
On Tuesday morning, dozens of people gathered at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The ceremony included a presentation of the flag, moments of reflection and the playing of taps.
Veterans from all military branches and their families filled the amphitheater. Several elected leaders also spoke during the program.
Also on Tuesday, the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association held a Veterans Day ceremony.
The association is a multicultural group that pays tribute to the history of the Buffalo Soldier and Black Indian Scouts of the 1800s.
Part of their mission is to ensure young students are taught about their contributions in the western United States during that era.
