Titusville residents urged the city council to vote against a proposed development at the intersection of State Road 405 and South Singleton Avenue, fearing it would worsen flooding, and the council agreed, denying the rezoning request.
The developer wanted to change the property's zoning from general use, which allows for 16 residential units, to accommodate 62 residential units in a townhome development. Residents argued that the development would lead to increased flooding in existing homes.
"Scripture says my people are destroyed because of a lack of knowledge. We know exactly firsthand what 15 inches of rainfall in 18 hours can do," one resident said.
