GRAND FORKS — On Feb. 8, 1997, UND set the program's single-game scoring record in a 124-119 double-overtime loss to St. Cloud State.
Tuesday evening at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, the Fighting Hawks broke that record in regulation.
The Hawks crushed Mayville State 128-58 to secure their first win of the 2025-26 season and set a new scoring benchmark for the program.
"I had no idea," UND head coach Paul Sather said. "The last thing on my mind was whatever this might be from a record standpoint. I think the game was against St. Cloud that they had set the record in a North Central Conference game. So it's almost too bad that that went down. "
