WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - In honor of Veterans Day, veterans in Beaufort County, alongside their families, were celebrated and recognized for their service with a dinner.

The Moose Lodge and the Old Ford Ruritan Club held their first Annual Veterans Dinner event on Tuesday, providing veterans and their families a warm meal of spaghetti, awards, and gifts honoring their service.

Curtis Gibbs, who served for 22 years in the Air Force, says the event made him feel proud.

“It makes me feel good to be one, a veteran and be out celebrating this day with friends and folks that I don’t know,” he said. “As well as recognizing and paying tribute to those who gave their all for the United States period. In regards to making this place as safe as it can be for all citizens that live here.”
