TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (FOX Carolina/Atlanta News First) - A student from Atlanta was found dead in her dorm room at a South Carolina university, according to the school.

A spokesperson for Furman University said first-year student Ella Whiteman, 18, was found dead in her Geer Hall dorm room on Sunday night. She lived by herself, Fox Carolina, our sister station in Greenville, reported.

Whiteman was from Atlanta, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

“Although Ella’s time as a Furman Paladin was brief, she had many friends and was a beloved member of our Furman family.
