DULUTH — The Duluth Northern Stars' Nora Good fired a shot past North Shore’s Emmy Bentler just before time expired in the second period to break a scoreless tie.

The Northern Stars held off the Storm in the third period, including a flurry of shots before the horn sounded, but goalie Aaili Antila stopped all 21 shots she faced in a 1-0 win for Duluth at Essentia Duluth Heritage Center on Tuesday.

Bentler finished the game with 44 saves for the Storm, but it could have been far more.

The North Shore defensemen were tenacious, getting down to block shots before they got to Bentler and poking pucks away from Duluth players.

The Northern Stars (1-1) will play at Cloquet-Esko-Carlton at 7 p.m. Thursday and North Shore (0-2) will face Moose Lake Area at 7 p.m. in Silver Bay.
