PORTLAND, Ore. — A man riding a bicycle was killed Tuesday evening in a crash with a car on Highway 43, south of the Sellwood Bridge, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. near the 9900 block of South Riverside Drive, where Portland and Multnomah County jurisdictions meet.

Portland police officers initially responded to the scene and paged out their Major Crash Team before confirming the crash occurred within Multnomah County's jurisdiction. The sheriff’s office then took over the investigation.

The driver remained at the scene, investigators said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
