About a month after a man was shot to death in Long Beach’s Belmont Shore, local leaders announced a temporary curfew in the bustling business area to prevent future tragedies.

The family of 32-year-old Jeremy Spears says they’re in support of the curfew following the death of their loved one, who was killed late last month following a shooting outside a bar that stemmed from a fight. In addition to the midnight curfew, local leaders are also increasing DUI checkpoints and cracking down on unauthorized street vendors for 30 days in an effort to increase safety.
