A family who had no idea they had been sharing their home with more than 2,000 spiders for over five years left scientists stunned by what happened. In total, 2,055 brown recluse spiders were found in the property in Kansas, USA, with around 400 of them being venomous.
The family had realised spiders cropping up every so often but it wasn't until five years after moving in that they realised they were brown recluse spiders. Pest control were called and found more than 2,000 in the property.
Scientists studying the fascinating case then noticed something peculiar about the inhabitants of the house. It appeared that the spiders and humans, despite cohabiting, managed to avoid each other. Astonishingly, none of the residents were bitten during the five-year period.
