Background
In 2024, the Greenville County Planning Commission gave the green light to developer D.R. Horton to build the Owens Glen subdivision in Piedmont. But because the developer couldn’t secure a sewer line, the plan died.
Developers persisted. In 2025, they returned to the Planning Commission with a proposal to build 286 residential lots on 112 acres.
However, after rising public opposition, the commission denied it in July.
“In 2025, it was denied because the roads are unsafe, because we live in a beautiful rural area, and it needs to be protected,” said resident
