Freedom of speech and peaceful protest could be under threat if WA laws to deter people from boasting about crimes are passed, a parliamentary committee has found.
The "post and boast" laws aim to punish the glorification of illegal and dangerous acts, such as footage posted to social media of stolen cars hooning.
The distribution of content like this has prompted state governments around the country to try and make such posts illegal and dissuade so-called "crimfluencers".
However a WA parliamentary inquiry into the laws has found, in their proposed state, they could breach freedoms beyond those the government has said it wants to limit.
