Todd McKenney is back home in Perth, where he is set to delight audiences as a singing and dancing feline in the 40th anniversary Australian tour of CATS , which opens at Crown Theatre on Thursday night.

The 60-year-old musical theatre veteran plays the dual roles of Bustopher Jones and Asparagus the Theatre Cat alongside a stellar cast including Ohio-born Gabriyel Thomas, Mark Vincent, Lucy Maunder, Des Flanagan, WAAPA graduate Jarrod Draper and Leigh Archer.

McKenney was in CATS 38 years ago for the original Melbourne season, and said it was nice to return “older, wiser and with more skills under my belt”.

“It’s also great to be in such an iconic show 40 years down the track. It’s stood the test of time, and the audiences love it,” he said.
