City warns of email scams

The city of Aspen’s Community Development Department is warning applicants about scam billing requests targeting land-use cases. Legitimate planning invoices are issued through the city’s Salesforce system and come from no-reply@services.cityofaspen.com .

According to a city news release, bills should include a planning case number, fee item number, description of charges and an invoice number. The city does not request wire transfers for land-use payments and bills never originate from volunteer boards such as Planning and Zoning, Historic Preservation, Board of Adjustment or Aspen City Council.

If in doubt, applicants should contact their assigned planner or the Community Development administrative team at 970-920-5090 or mcdehadmins@aspen.gov .
