The district-wide operation, described as both counter-militancy and anti-separatist in nature, was carried out simultaneously in several areas with the assistance of other security agencies. According to police officials, the action was initiated following credible intelligence inputs indicating fresh attempts by JeI-linked elements to revive organisational activities through covert channels and front groups.
