AHMEDABAD: In a brazen display of defiance, members of the sand mining mafia on Monday afternoon took away a fully laden truck which a woman govt officer and her team had intercepted and seized on the Gandhinagar-Kalol highway. The officer from the geology and mining department, Devyani Jadeja, later filed a complaint with Kalol police alleging how the mafia obstructed her from carrying out duties, and threatened her. Jadeja and her team – driver Vipul Raval and a security guard — were conducting routine checks when they spotted a dumper truck loaded with sand parked inside the gate of an industrial unit on the Chhatral highway. Its driver, when questioned, admitted to not having either the necessary royalty pass or the delivery challan. The truck was laden with 43.440 metric tonnes
