TRI-CITIES, Wash. – While cloudy skies and fog have limited visibility over the Columbia Basin, people across Washington, Idaho and Montana have captured stunning photos of the aurora borealis lighting up the night sky.
Kittitas County Regional Tactical Response Team members were training outside and enjoyed the northern lights. They encouraged others to look north and see if they could spot it too.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasted intensified geomagnetic activity, promising a spectacular display for aurora enthusiasts.
The northern lights are expected to be visible tonight, November 11-12, due to the arrival of two coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which may trigger geomagnetic storm conditions.
