The West Aussie coastal town of Cervantes has found itself in the spotlight after an Aussie drew attention to a “fascinating” detail about the secluded spot.
While the hit holiday destination is known as the gateway to the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung Park and renowned for its crayfish industry and pristine beaches, it has instead become a topic of discussion because of its Spanish name.
Queensland-born Corey, who now lives in Madrid and creates online videos centred around Spanish language and culture, pointed out the detail in a TikTok clip that has gained 1.6 million views.
“I just stumbled across Cervantes poking around WA on Google Maps and recognised the name of Spain’s most famous writer,” Corey told PerthNow.
