A high-end homeware retailer has closed all 26 of its UK stores after entering administration, resulting in the redundancy of 133 staff members. Only the head office and warehouse in Banbury remain operational to fulfil existing orders.

Fired Earth, established in 1983 and initially selling terracotta tiles from an Oxfordshire farm, grew into a leading design brand on the British high street, even partnering with Marks and Spencer for exclusive collections. The company, specialising in luxury tiles and interior design products, ran 26 showrooms across the UK and supplied an additional 22 independent stockists.

The brand also had two international branches in Denmark and Norway. Stores set to close include those in Cambridge, Harrogate, Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Cheltenham, Truro, Nottingham
