A Devon mother was left astonished when medical staff placed her premature newborn into a Tesco sandwich bag.
Lauren Hawking, 29, delivered her son Blake 13 weeks early whilst she was just 15 years old.
Her waters ruptured at five months' gestation, followed by a prolonged labour lasting another month.
Medical staff were unable to detect a heartbeat during a routine examination. The umbilical cord had become trapped, cutting off the blood supply.
Lauren subsequently underwent an emergency caesarean section, during which Blake was successfully delivered, reports Devon Live .
