VERMILLION — South Dakota is getting ready to crown state high school football champions this week.

State championship in each of the seven South Dakota high school football classes are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 13-15, in the Dakota Dome at Vermillion.

Here's some details on each of the championship games:

Class 9B

Matchup — No. 1 seed Dell Rapids St. Mary (11-0) vs. No. 2 Avon (10-1).

Date/Time — Thursday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m.

Previous State Championship Appearances — Dell Rapids St. Mary (1): Class 9B runner-up in 2020. Avon (9): State titles in Class 9B in 2005, 2013 and 2023 and Class 9A in 2002, 2004 and 2008; and runner-up finishes in Class 9B in 2011 and Class 9A in 2003 and 2009.

Notes — Dell Rapids was No. 1 and Avon No. 2 in the final South Dakota
