JONESBORO -- Coming off a gut-wrenching 27-21 home loss to Southern Miss last Saturday, Arkansas State will have a bye this weekend ahead of its Nov. 20 matchup with Louisiana-Lafayette at Centennial Bank Stadium that will carry postseason implications for both teams.
The bye appears to come at a good time for the Red Wolves as the physical battle with Southern Miss took its toll. A number of players are battling injuries, with the most notable being quarterback Jaylen Raynor, who injured his throwing shoulder against the Golden Eagles and had to leave the game on two occasions in the second half.
Raynor returned in the fourth quarter and nearly engineered a comeback from a 27-13 deficit, but his pass to the end zone on the final play of the game was intercepted by Ahmere Foster, sealing
