Nuapada witnessed an intense by-election on Tuesday with 83.45% voter turnout, sealing the fate of 11 candidates in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The contest drew unprecedented enthusiasm among voters, with participation surpassing two lakh people.

The battle featured a triangular fight between three major parties. BJP fielded Jay Dholakia, son of the late MLA Rajendra Dholakia. BJD nominated Snehangini Chhuria, while Congress put forward Ghasiram Majhi. All three leaders campaigned vigorously across Nuapada, Komna, and Khariar, drawing large crowds.

The Chief Electoral Officer confirmed that 358 polling stations were set up, including 47 sensitive and 8 highly sensitive booths. Polling parties reached the most sensitive booths by helicopter, ensuring smooth conduct.
